Sustainability work shortlisted in Business Awards

Barnsley College is shortlisted for the Sustainability Award in the Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards.

Our groundbreaking sustainability efforts have led to us being shortlisted in prestigious regional awards.

We are in the running for the Sustainability Award in the Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards, which recognises local businesses’ successes and raises the profile of the region’s business community.

Recognising our sector-leading work in Carbon Literacy training, the College is shortlisted in the category alongside organisations working in various fields from energy to engineering.

The Sustainability Award recognises a business that has shown ‘outstanding commitment to sustainable practices through innovative and impactful initiatives’.

Head of Sustainability, Sasha Beswick, said: “It’s a rewarding moment to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award, for our work on embedding Carbon Literacy and Education for Sustainable Development into every part of teaching and learning at College.

“Our approach has led to some amazing opportunities to work with institutions across the world and share knowledge, and it’s great to receive recognition here in our region for our efforts.

“We’re excited to be in some esteemed company on the shortlist, and we’re sure the Business Awards will be a great chance to celebrate the best of local business.”

The awards ceremony will take place at Magna Science Adventure Centre, Rotherham, on Friday, November 8th.
