Our Catering and Hospitality students recently experienced a kitchen takeover at The Open Kitchen in College in partnership with Learning and Development Manager Kate Robey, Stephanie Moon and Matthew Wilkinson from Rudding Park Hotel, where our students enjoy work placements as part of their course.

Stephanie Moon Chef Consultant to Rudding Park Hotel, began her career under Anton Mosimann at the ‘Dorchester on Park Lane’ in London. Stephanie’s passion for food has taken her around the world working in Australia, America, Switzerland and Germany.

Stephanie has made appearances on television including Channel 5 Street Market Chefs and represented the North East on BBC2’s Great British Menu 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Matthew Wilkinson is Head of Kitchens at Rudding Park and oversees Clocktower Brasserie, Horto, Meetings and Events along with the new immersive dining experience FIFTY TWO.

With a Kitchen Garden on site, Matthew fully embraces the importance of homegrown produce and relishes any opportunity to celebrate Yorkshire’s best food and drink businesses.

Students helped to prepare and cook a menu that included delicious food ranging from BBQ Lobster Tacos, Chicken and Apricot Mousse to Yuzu Cheesecake.

Andy Hodgkiss, Catering and Hospitality Teacher said: “The evening was the culmination of Eighteen Months building the relationship with Kate, Matthew, and Steph from Rudding Park.

“Our learners are a credit to themselves, and the College and they really impressed our visitors with their enthusiasm and attitude towards the event.

“We look forward to working even more closely with Rudding Park in the future to help inspire our learners”.
