Students empowered by Childcare, Health and Science industry professionals during ‘Insight Day’

Our action-packed ‘Insight Day’ saw industry experts motivate and inspire the upcoming generation of Childcare, Health and Science professionals.

Over 450 students from the Childcare, Health, and Applied Science programmes were given an exclusive opportunity to connect with top professionals in their fields, equipping them with the essential knowledge, skills, and connections to bridge the skills gap in the growing Health and Childcare sectors.

The event brought together experts from key areas such as Youth Justice, Early Start and Family Services, Children’s and Adult Social Work, Midwifery, Paramedical Science, Adult Social Care, Adult Nursing and Biomedical Sciences.

Students who attended the day described the experience as ‘eye-opening,’ and one student shared, “It was a great chance to ask key questions and understand the industry and get a clearer idea of how to pursue my dream job.”

With the expert guidance and hands-on experience provided during the day, we are shaping the next generation of childcare and health professionals by providing them with valuable insights into a variety of career paths and exploring the exciting opportunities available in these fields.

Emma Harvey, Childcare and Health Programme Manager, said: “Over the past three years, we’ve strengthened our connections with employers, enabling us to host this year’s industry insights event on a much larger scale. This year, we invited 30 employers from the sector to inspire our young people.

“In the morning, employers hosted a market-style session and, in the afternoon, they presented to groups of students who chose their area of interest. This allowed students to explore a typical day in specific roles and understand the knowledge and skills needed for those areas.”

Stacy Dyson, from the Youth Justice Service who attended the day, added: “The students were enthusiastic, coming in with specific subject areas they wanted to discuss and were prepared with questions, which is excellent! It was a really good event for students to think about their future careers.”
