We have partnered with Barnsley Hospice Retail Hub to help raise £1,100 for Barnsley Hospice.
The Retail Hub hosted a five-day pop-up shop at the college’s Students’ Union during Fresher’s Week, with rails of pre-loved fashion items available for students and staff to purchase.
“The students loved having the option to buy affordable and sustainable clothing within the college and we cannot wait for the hospice team to return!”
The partnership raised awareness of the Retail Hub, which raises money for the hospice by selling a range of pre-loved vintage, designer brands and high-street favourites. It was also an opportunity to share the sustainability benefits of shopping second-hand and steering away from fast fashion.
The collaboration will continue with the Retail Hub returning for a week in December, giving students and staff the opportunity to bag a bargain at student-friendly prices, with the money raised going directly to the hospice.
Sasha Foyster, Learner Voice Adviser at the college’s Students’ Union, said: “We would like to thank everyone from the hospice, especially Lewis and Simon, who supported the college to make the pop-up shop a success.
“They transformed our Student’s Union into a space where students felt heard about their sustainability needs – the students loved having the option to buy affordable and sustainable clothing within the college and we cannot wait for the hospice team to return!”
Simon, Warehouse and Sales Lead at Barnsley Hospice Warehouse, added: “The pop-up shop was a great opportunity to connect with the college and its students.
“All items purchased raise vital funds for the hospice, whilst promoting sustainability in fashion at the same time. Thanks to everyone at Barnsley College for welcoming us, and a huge thank you to the staff and students who stopped by and supported the event. We can’t wait to be back in December!”
