What is Information Literacy?
A literate person can read. An information literate person knows what to read, how to access information and how to use their reading to get started creating something worth reading by others. It is one of a network of literacy terms – like digital literacy, media literacy, IT literacy and new literacies – used to describe the skills needed to succeed at college and in the 21st century world:

In UK higher education SCONUL 7 Pillars is the main model used to express what information literacy encompasses.
This model has been developed to highlight the skills needed for graduate employability and by informed researchers.
