Helen Weatherston: Director Of Business Development
I joined Barnsley College in November 2018. In addition to overseeing the Business Development team, I support and grow the College Apprenticeship Income and develop productive relationships with businesses. I lead Business Development around traineeships also.
I spend time working closely with local authorities to keep them involved with College offers and opportunities as well as working with our Lep so we can be involved in any projects and programmes and provide support as a College in our local community.
I also continue to work with employers to engage in academies and T Levels by supporting their business needs and showing them how they can support our curriculum.
Steve Hartley: Senior Account Manager
I joined Barnsley College in 2019. I work with LEVY employers, supporting them to utilise the apprenticeship LEVY to develop both existing staff and establish new talent. The apprenticeship roles within our partners span across all sectors and we continue to work with employers to develop further training to meet the needs of our local community.

Julia Caldwell: Business Development Officer
I joined Barnsley College in 2010. I work with a large variety of small, local businesses including hair and beauty salons, restaurants, cafes and childcare providers. Apprentice roles are often specific to the business, such as Hairdressing, Beauty Therapist, Early Years Educator or Professional Cook. I also deal with apprenticeships which are more general and apply to all businesses, like Business Administration and Team Leader roles.

Darren Nichols: Account Manager
I joined Barnsley College in August 2020. My role as Account Manager is to partner, engage and support Levy paying organisations looking at how we can work together to futureproof their business. I get to work with some fantastic organisations such as AMCO, Ardagh Glass, Masonite, Evri, Barnsley Football Club and Berneslai Homes just to name a few.

Richard Pye: Business Development Recruitment Manager
I joined Barnsley College in February 2018. I manage our Apprenticeship Recruitment team and Business Development Officers. I have experience working with unemployed individuals for over 20 years. Finding the right applicant can be challenging, however very rewarding.
Our team offer a full service from advertising the vacancy to arranging interviews.

Colin Charlesworth: Account Manager
I joined Barnsley College in October 2020, and I am an Account Manager working with large employers who pay into the Levy. I work to promote the College’s apprenticeship provision to companies, supporting them to upskill their existing workforce and help their growth by developing new recruits with an outstanding experience from our trained professionals at the College. I pride myself on exceptional customer service for the employers and learners I work with.

Daniel Cherryholme: Account Manager
I have been with the College since January 2021. My role as an Account Manager is to assist medium to large employers across Yorkshire and The Humber, Sheffield City Region, South Yorkshire and beyond with guidance on suitable job related apprenticeships and the overall upskilling for new and current staffing workforce. Some of the employers I work with are GXO, Barnsley Hospital, Wakefield Council, Barnsley Premier Leisure, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, Barnsley Chronicle, National Autistic Society, Hollybank Trust, Kirklees Council and many more.

Kyle Lathan: Employer Engagement Officer
I have been working for College since 2022. I started my time here as a Digital Marketing Apprentice where I used social media to advertise vacancies for the Business Development Team, since then I have moved into my new role of Employer Engagement Officer. My new role is to liaise with employers and complete the sign-up process for inbound leads.

Amanda Ogley: Recruitment Officer
I have worked at the College for 13 years. I work in the vacancies team, and I am responsible for advertising our current vacancies and recruiting for those roles. I am the first point of contact for all new employers, and work with both employers and learners. I recently recruited for a large company based in Barnsley, they were looking for a Business Administrator, I sent two really good candidates for interviews. The company decided that they would take both on.

Becky Elvin: Recruitment Officer
I have worked for the College since 2021, prior to this I worked in the Education sector as a Teaching Assistant. My role in the Business Development Vacancies Team involves supporting employers and candidates with the recruitment process. I am responsible for advertising apprenticeship vacancies for employers within our local community and surrounding areas. I work with students and other candidates offering advice and guidance on apprenticeship pathways available and prepare them for the interviewing process.
