We secured finalist spots in both the Staff Volunteer of the Year and the Team/College Fundraiser of the Year categories at this year’s Good for Me Good for FE awards event, which took place at the House of Lords last week.
The awards recognise the incredible volunteering and fundraising contributions made by staff and students from Further Education (FE) colleges across the UK. The ceremony was hosted in the Cholmondeley Room at the House of Lords by The Baroness Barran MBE.

Nicky Thomson-Dewey, the College’s Head of Department for Learning for Living and Work, achieved finalist status in the Staff Volunteer of the Year category for her charitable efforts in the local community through the Love Grace Handbag Appeal and the Barnsley Care Leavers Christmas Dinner Project.
The College’s Students’ Union team were recognised as finalists in the Team/College Fundraiser of the Year category for their various fundraising activities for Barnsley Hospice, totalling more than £8,000 for 2023/2024 adding to a total of £18,000 across previous years.
