Reasons to join us at Barnsley College

  1. We offer Business and Management courses from Level 1 to Level 5, which means there is something on offer for those who are just starting their career as well as those who are looking to take their skills to the next level.

  2. We offer a range of courses that can be studied at home or within the workplace. These include  AAT courses for older students who may struggle to commit to coming to College each week; and Management courses for those who want to progress within the workplace.

  3. You will have the opportunity to take part in a range of extra-curricular activities and trips to places such as Amsterdam and you will plan and organise your own business events. Past events have included a Christmas Fair, jewellery sales and a host of locally sponsored charity events.

  4. A range of guest speakers from the industry will provide specialist input into your study programme.

  5. Barnsley College has a well-established Enterprise scheme to help you get your business idea off the ground and our Job Shop is available to help you to write a CV, search for jobs and improve your interview techniques.

  6. We offer a FREE coach service for our students that operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Each route will operate in the morning in order to get you into College before lessons start and a return service will operate from Old Mill Lane campus at the end of the day.

  7. You may be eligible to apply for financial support through the Learner Support Fund to cover the cost of studying and first-year apprentices living in Barnsley can apply for the Stanley Race Bursary Fund (eligibility criteria applies).

  8. The Business department is based in our Old Mill Lane campus. Visit our Campus page to explore our state-of-the-art facilities and watch a 360 tour. All students have access to Additional Learning Support (ALS) and you can also use the award-winning Health and Wellbeing Centre and GAINSpace. If you enjoy sport, you could join Barnsley Sport Academy or Honeywell Sports Village.

  9. We’ve got some great food and drink outlets including our very own Starbucks, located in the Atrium of the Old Mill Lane campus.
