Health and Social Care students visit an eye-opening career event

Our students visited one of the largest health and social career events in the Health and Social Care industry.

Level 2 Health and Social Care and Level 3 Health and Social Care students had the opportunity to attend the NHS ‘We Care Into The Future’ event at the Metrodome, which featured over 40 stands from health and social care staff.

The event introduced students to a range of opportunities within health and social care, highlighting more than 100 different careers, from psychological occupations to working with the ambulance service team.

Ebony Hinton, Level 2 Health and Social Care student, said “I have gained a clearer future for myself by taking part in this great career event.”

Students also experienced a simulated journey of someone who needs emergency help, starting with what happens during a 999 call and the ambulance crew arriving, through to receiving care in the emergency department, being admitted to a ward and finishing with the patient being released into community care.

Not only did our students attend the event, but our Level 3 T Level Early Years students volunteered their time and worked as event stewards to ensure everyone who attended was safe and the event was successful.

Emma Harvey, Childcare and Health Programme Manager, added: “The event was an amazing opportunity for our students to engage with the range of employers that were ready and able to advise and guide the next generation of practitioners in one amazing place.

“Our students had the chance to see all the professions within the sector and how they work together and what their roles consisted during simulated activities – this event has raised aspirations of the students, and they are really thinking about university and their career goal.”
