Exciting Summer Activities Schedule 2024

View the summer activities schedule for each day below:

  • Board games and a quiz – Play fun and interactive games with other students.
  • Candle making workshop – Join us at this interactive session and make a candle. (Maximum five people)
  • Hair braiding tips – Learn to plait, curl and pin up steps for hair.
  • An introduction to performing CPR – Learn about CPR and the steps of performing CPR.
  • Introduction to memory techniques – Learn how to use some simple mnemonic techniques (including how to learn the alphabet backwards in 10 minutes).
  • Wellbeing session – Make a Worry Doll to help with anxiety and stress relief.
  • Bookish Barnsley – Recommend books, chat about your favourite literature, loan books and sign up with the Barnsley library.
  • UCAS – A clearing and drop in session.
  • Switch and board games – Join the Students’ Union for fun and  interactive games.
  • VR games and activities – Join this session for a fun immersive experience.
  • Free gym sessions – Come along and enjoy a free gym session at the Sports Village. You must complete the Guest Pass Form prior to arrival.

 

  • School sports day – Take part in a fun and traditional sports day.
  • Retro and modern games – Develop important life skills such as problem solving, decision making, teamwork and communication skills whilst having fun. Also, get to know teachers and fellow students.
  • An introduction to performing CPR – Learn about CPR and the steps of performing CPR.
  • Group speed chess – Compete in a team based, multiple board chess game, even if you’ve never played before!
  • Magic Workshop – Learn the secrets behind some spellbinding card tricks and take home a pack of cards to impress your friends and family. (Maximum 20 people)
  • Funding – Drop-in with our Information, Advice and Guidance team to find out about the Learner Support Fund and how to apply.
  • Bookish Barnsley – Recommend books, chat about your favourite literature, loan books and sign up with the Barnsley library.

  • UCAS workshop – This session is for students progressing from Year 1 to Year 2 who want to complete a UCAS application. This will be an opportunity to spend some time with tutorial staff to get started or develop their personal statement and be on top of their applications in advance of the deadline.
