Our Esports students have led the way in insightful workshops, networking sessions and leading discussions with industry professionals at Bett 2024.
Enzo Guarini, Esports Higher Education Pathway Leader at the College, provided his expertise at the event by discussing levelling up academic studies with Esports. He spoke passionately about employment in key areas of the industry and how to develop new career pathways for students through qualified Esports study programs, following the success at Barnsley College.
“It was my first time playing in front of a crowd and it was amazing. The Bett event was a fantastic experience and gave me a lot of confidence and knowledge on what we can expect in the future from British Esports and other companies such as DELL Technologies.”
At the event, the College’s Barnsley Griffins Esports team won the British Esports Rocket League 3×3 tournament and DELL’s females Rocket League competition, which provided the perfect opportunity for students to play live and showcase their talents. Students also had the opportunity to gain real-life experience in shout casting.
Kaisha Thomas, a Level 3 Esports, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship student, said: “It felt incredible coming out as the champions. It was my first time playing in front of a crowd and it was amazing. The Bett event was a fantastic experience and gave me a lot of confidence and knowledge on what we can expect in the future from British Esports and other companies such as DELL Technologies.”
Thomas Wilford, Esports Teacher at the College, added: “It’s a fantastic achievement that highlights the hard work, dedication and time each student has dedicated to developing their skills within Rocket League. The Bett Esport showcase was a great opportunity to put Barnsley College on the map. We are an educational juggernaut within the Esport industry. It’s great to see that our competitive teams are also succeeding at the highest level.”
