Engineering (Multi-trade Combined Studies) (Skills Academy)

If you’re mad about engineering, then this course could be just what you’ve been waiting for.

This Level 1 course has been designed to give you a broad understanding of the engineering sector whilst working towards a qualification.

It has been developed for delivery in a practical environment which means that you do not need to be employed within engineering, you can do it whilst still at school. You will have the opportunity to develop practical skills in automotive and general engineering and will be assessed by using online tests, internally marked practical tasks and written assessments. There is also a written project to complete this qualification and you will have support from highly qualified tutors who have a range of experience in the industry. You will have time both in the practical workshop and in the classroom.

It’s safety first in this environment, so when in the workshop you will be required to wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times which will be provided by us.

Appropriate, safe behaviour is also a must at all times as you will be working in a potentially dangerous work environment, similar to that of a mechanical workshop.

The subject units you will study are:
• Health and safety for motor vehicle studies.
• Introduction to spark ignition engines.
• Introduction to motorcycle maintenance.
• Introduction to vehicle wheels and tyres.
• Introduction to vehicle body repair.

If you pass this qualification it will help you to progress onto higher level courses in a range of Automotive and Engineering subjects for working within the
automotive engineering industry.
