Business, Warehousing and Logistics (Skills Academy)

We have on offer a range of courses that are appropriate for students aged 14-16. These are awarding body certificated qualifications, but can be offered without the certification if that is more suitable to the student’s circumstances.

The AAT Access Award in Business Skills

This Level 1 course offers you the opportunity to develop key practical skills used in every business as a route into employment. On completion of this qualification, you will also be equipped with a strong foundation from which to progress to further study with AAT in either accountancy or bookkeeping or Business if this is what you would like to do.

If you take the Access Award in Business Skills you will develop your employability skills and prepare for the workplace. You will also develop your basic numeracy skills to support everyday business activities, which will also be of use to you outside work. You will also gain a practical understanding of how money moves in business and the processes and procedures that control the sales and purchases processes.

 NCFE Level 1 Award in Personal and Social Development

The Award in Personal and Social Development gives you the opportunity to learn the knowledge, practical skills and techniques needed for work as well as personal and social development. You will gain the confidence and self-esteem you need to progress to employment, apprenticeship or further education programmes to meet your own progression requirements.  You will undertake a range of units including:

  • Managing your own money
  • Working as part of a group
  • Working towards goals
  • Planning an enterprise activity
  • Running an enterprise activity

Lessons in Financial Education (London Institute of Finance and Banking) Level 1 Award

This qualification aims to ensure you gain valuable financial awareness and capability. It equips you with the knowledge to cope confidently and effectively with basic financial encounters you are likely to meet. You will develop initial knowledge and understanding of spending and how to become competent at managing your own money. You will be able to progress to further study or gain the confidence and strong foundations in money management to progress into employment.

  • LO 1 Understand the principles of money
  • LO2 Understand how to manage money
  • LO 3 Understand the ways of keeping money safe

Level 1 / 2 Certificate Lessons in Financial Education (London Institute of Finance and Banking)

Students successfully completing the award Financial Award qualification may wish to progress onto the certificate qualification. This qualification will give you a good understanding of money and finance and will provide valuable insight into a range of career opportunities within the financial services sector, while giving guidance on methods for enhancing employability skills:

  • Unit 1 – Your Personal Finances (this unit makes up the level 1 Award and if successfully completed will be credited against the certificate).
  • Unit 2 – Money Management For Your Generation
  • Unit 3 – Your Future, Your Career

NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Business and Enterprise

This qualification is designed for students who want an introduction to business and enterprise that includes a vocational and hands-on element. It has been developed to enthuse and inspire you about a career in business and enterprise. The qualification will appeal to you if you wish to either set up your own business, move into employment or progress to further study. Units to be studied include:

  • Unit 01 Introduction to business and enterprise
  • Unit 02 Marketing for business and enterprise
  • Unit 03 Finance for business and enterprise
  • Unit 04 Plan, outline and take part in a business or enterprise project
