This course starts on 21 March. Classes are every Friday between 9am and 4.15pm for 12 weeks, term-time only.

Entry requirements

There is no requirement for you to have achieved any qualifications or units prior to undertaking this qualification, however a reasonable standard of computing skills will be required.

Level 3 Certificate in Social Media for E-Commerce.

Course overview

In today’s digital landscape, an effective content marketing and digital marketing strategy is essential for brands, content creators, and businesses looking to engage audiences, build brand authority, and drive success. This course equips learners with the essential skills to develop, implement, and manage digital marketing campaigns using industry-standard tools and strategies. 

Whether you’re a content creator aiming to grow your online presence or a business owner looking to enhance brand visibility, this course provides the knowledge and practical skills needed to create engaging content, optimise digital channels, and analyse performance metrics for continuous improvement. 

Throughout this course, you will explore key aspects of digital marketing, content creation, and campaign management, including:

  • Creating high-quality content tailored to different digital platforms
  • Developing strategic marketing campaigns to reach target audiences
  • Utilising analytics tools to track engagement, measure success, and refine content strategies
  • Understanding project management and applying methodologies to digital marketing initiatives
  • Leveraging social media platforms to maximise brand awareness and audience engagement

This qualification is structured around five core units, each designed to develop expertise in key areas of digital marketing: 

  1. Project Management – Learn how to plan, execute, and manage marketing campaigns using project management methodologies and software.
  2. Content Marketing – Explore the principles of storytelling, brand messaging, and content distribution strategies for maximum impact.
  3. Digital Marketing – Gain an in-depth understanding of digital marketing channels, including email, SEO, PPC, and website optimisation.
  4. Digital Marketing Metrics and Analytics – Learn how to track and analyse data to measure campaign performance and improve marketing strategies.
  5. Social Media Marketing (SMM) – Develop skills in social media strategy, platform-specific marketing, and audience engagement.

You will be assessed using a range of methods such as practical tasks and written coursework within a portfolio of evidence. This portfolio will be used to determine your grade.

Learners can progress in a number of ways:

  • progressing to a larger qualification at the same level (Certificate to Diploma)
  • progressing to a higher-level qualification
  • progressing to employment where they can apply their digital and IT knowledge and skills.

How much does the course cost?

This course is eligible for the Free Courses for Jobs funding which means you can study this for free if you meet the eligibility criteria. Please see the drop-down option below for more details. If you are not eligible for funding then you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of the course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may not have to pay for this course if:

  • You do not already have a level 3 qualification OR
  • You already have a level 3 qualification or higher but earn below the earnings threshold set by your local authority, which includes benefits (see below) OR
  • You already have a level 3 qualification or higher but are unemployed and in receipt of a means-tested benefit, below the earnings threshold set by your local authority (see below).

This course is funded by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and/or West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). You must be living in the South or West Yorkshire regions to qualify for funding.

Earnings Threshold

  • If you live in the qualifying West Yorkshire region and earn below £25,000 a year then you may not have to pay for this course.
  • If you live in the qualifying South Yorkshire region and earn below £30,476 a year then you may not have to pay for this course.
