There will be assessment windows throughout your the study programme where your knowledge, understanding and practical skills will be assessed under exam conditions. You will achieve either a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade.
This programme starts in September and will take one year to complete.
You will need to hold two GCSEs in English and Maths. These must be at Grade 3 or above.
Level 2 Site Carpentry Technical Certificate City & Guilds
This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to perform site joinery activities in relation to structural joinery work, 1st and 2nd fix joinery including staircases, partition walls, floors and roofs and learn about timber technology to support your practical skills development. The course is designed to support your practical skills development in line with industry practice while providing you with the knowledge element that is key to the understanding of Site Carpentry. You will also develop the attributes required for employment and the workplace to expand your career options throughout the course.
The duration of the course covers the following units in technical knowledge understanding and practical training and development in the following areas:
Introduction to health and safety in construction
Principles of building construction, information and communication
Carry out first fix flooring and roofing
Carry out first fix frames, partitions and stairs
Carry out second fixing operation

Basic stationery for the classroom activities.
There are 5 points of PPE required in the workshop at all times. Each student is expected to provide their own boots and the department will provide the other 4 pieces:

T Level in Site Carpentry.
Apprenticeship in Site Carpentry (successful employer support required to take this option).
Full-time Barnsey College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.
