Screen Printing Workshop (One Day) – Part-time

Course overview

Join us for a fun and creative Screen Printing Workshop, designed for beginners and families! This hands-on, one-day session will introduce you to the basics of screen printing in a relaxed and engaging environment.

During the workshop, you will:

• Learn the fundamentals of screen printing, including design preparation, stencil creation, colour theory and ink application.
• Experiment with different techniques to create bold and vibrant designs.
• Design and print your own unique artwork onto a tote bag and tea towel (will be provided)
• Receive guidance from an experienced instructor to ensure you leave with professional-looking prints.

No prior experience is necessary—this workshop is perfect for families, individuals, and anyone looking to explore a new creative skill. All materials, including inks, screens, and fabric items, will be provided. At the end of the session, you’ll take home your custom-printed creations, ready to show off or gift to someone special!

This is a great opportunity to get hands-on with a new craft, unleash your creativity, and enjoy a rewarding day of making.

Course content

During the day you will:

• Begin your day with an introduction to screen printing, what it is and what it can be used for.
• Look at developing drawn or printed images to be used as stencils and a final design that will later be exposed onto your screen.
• Gain an understanding of how to prepare screens using the coating and exposing process and be given the opportunity to do this for yourself.
• Be shown how to mix colours for print and gain an understanding of colour theory to assist you in making your own prints.
• Get the chance to observe a printing demonstration using the screens from your instructor and then get the chance to develop your own printing techniques exploring printing onto a range of fabrics and using different techniques and colours.

Once you are feeling confident in the afternoon you will be given a tote bag and a plain tea towel for you to print your final design onto this can be two different designs, or you can use your screen to create a 2-colour design. This workshop will be taught in our print room, allowing you to immerse yourself in a hands-on creative atmosphere. With no strict schedule, the day is yours to explore print at your own pace with guidance from a knowledgeable instructor. This is a great workshop for hobbyists, those looking to learn a new skill or perhaps you just want a fun day out to explore your creative side!

Take Home: At the end of the workshop, you’ll take home your handcrafted prints on a variety of fabrics along with a hand-printed tote bag and tea towel.
