Start Date / Duration

This course will start on Monday 16 September 2024. It will run on Monday evenings 5.30pm - 9pm for 27 weeks (term-time only with the exception of February half-term which will be directed learning time meaning you do not have to attend college for that week session). The course will end on Monday 23 June 2025.

Entry requirements

Entry to this course will require you to hold at least a Level 1 or equivalent qualification.

You will achieve a Nail Technology Certificate Level 2 VTCT.

Course overview

This course is designed to develop your knowledge and skills in providing acrylic nails for clients. Acrylics are an immensely popular service, so gaining qualifications in this skill could help to open a range of new earning and career opportunities for you.

Course content

This course has a compulsory six weeks introductory period, from when it starts, that will cover important skills and knowledge necessary for progression during the course.

As part of this course, you will study:

  • Health and safety
  • Consultation and product knowledge
  • Nail science
  • Application and removal of acrylic nails

You will be assessed by completing written tasks and tests, and successfully completing a practical assessment.

You will need writing stationery and a folder. You will be required to purchase a complete nail kit and uniform before starting the course. The kit and uniform will cost approximately £470 and can be purchased from the department supplier. The department staff will provide you with details of how you can order if you choose to come and enrol.

After completing this course, you could progress onto Nail Technology Studies Level 3 Diploma or one of our part-time beauty courses.

 

How much does the course cost?

This course costs £486. This course may be FREE to study depending on your circumstances – please see the ‘Eligibility for Funding’ drop-down option below for more details. The introductory period, which must be completed, costs £85. There is no funding available for the introductory period, so all learners must pay this fee.

Extra information

We have a state-of-the-art fitness village, Honeywell Sports Village where students can make use of our fitness suite, spinning studio and classes for competitive rates.

Part-time courses are only available for learners who are 19 years old and above. You may not have to pay for this course if you are employed but earn below £23,400 a year, or if you are unemployed and receive Job Seekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit. You will need to provide evidence of your eligibility which will be checked at enrolment.

This course is funded by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and/or West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). You must be living in the South or West Yorkshire regions to qualify for funding.
