Love make-up and nails? This course is perfect for you! You’ll learn cool nail techniques like UV gel, nail art, and using electric files. Get ready to work in salons or as a self-employed Nail Technician. Plus, you’ll pick up important skills in communication, business, and nail care. It’s a creative career where you can make people feel good about their nails, whether in a salon or at their home.
Completion of this course will enable you to enter the industry as a professional Nail Technician or progress on to our Level 3 Nail Technology course.
There will be continuous assessment of practical work, both on and off the job, oral questions relating to practical work and written questions. You will also be required to maintain and submit a portfolio of evidence of work produced. Assessments are based on the ability to do the job.
You will be required to purchase a uniform, nail kit, manicure kit and text book. All kits are compulsory to attend and achieve the qualification. Further information will be provided at the interview.
Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.
If you are aged 16 – 19 and don’t hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which can be added to your study programme.
If you’re aged 19 or above and don’t hold a a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
