The Creative Industries sector is an exciting place to be. New emerging technology helps the industry to produce media on a worldwide platform from the Harry Potter films to Grand Theft Auto games. Media is one of the most exciting and fastest growing sectors in the UK.
This course is for you if you like films, television, radio, photography, digital design, or journalism, and like to make creative content. You’ll develop new skills planning radio shows and film productions and then get hands on using high spec equipment to film and edit products.
You’ll learn about creative and digital marketing including branding, advertising and social media and learn the importance of narrative and storytelling. You’ll develop your digital design and production skills, using industry standard software packages including the Adobe Creative Suite.
This study programme encourages you to explore and enhance your creative media skills and knowledge. You will gain an understanding of how the industry operates and influences society, alongside gaining practical skills in camerawork, editing and design.
You’ll learn how to plan a film production and then get hands on using high spec equipment to film and edit. You will gain an understanding of the theories; including audience and the use of narrative and storytelling to create quality products.
You will be required to work collaboratively in production teams, to create radio productions, digital short films, photography and print media. You will develop digital design and production skills using industry standard software packages including the full Adobe Creative Suite.

No equipment is needed although learners are encouraged to utilise laptops and tablets in an interactive learning environment.
This course can form the foundations for future study and work in this industry.
After successful completion of this course, you could progress onto a Level 3 Diploma programme in the Creative Industries.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.
If you are aged 16 – 19 and don’t hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which can be added to your study programme.
If you’re aged 19 or above and don’t hold a a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
