Course overview

This course covers roles including Electrical, Mechanical, Wind Turbine, and Plant Operations Technicians. You’ll learn to maintain and operate equipment safely in industries like power plants, oil refining, and food production. Study at South Yorkshire Institute of Technology and gain skills in health and safety, maintenance practices, and engineering principles, preparing you for a diverse and exciting career in the national infrastructure sector.

Course content

You will be assessed by your assessor using a portfolio of evidence, practical demonstrations and assignments. You will be assessed both in College and in your place of work.

You will be required to provide paper, writing materials, A4 ring binder file, extra wide dividers and clear plastic wallets.

You will study within the workplace and attend classes at Barnsley College’s STEM Centre.

This standard will meet the professional standards of the Engineering Council for registration as Engineering Technician (Eng Tech) by an appropriate Professional Engineering Institution.

How much does the course cost?

There is no cost to being an apprentice. All costs associated with your apprenticeship, including the cost of training and your salary, will be paid by your employer.
