  • You are required to already have achieved a Level 3 assessor qualification and work in healthcare, social care, childcare or supporting learning
  • You do need to be working with assessors and have a responsibility for internal quality assurance

Course overview

This qualification covers understanding and internally assuring the quality of assessment, as well as planning, allocating and monitoring work in the learner’s own area of responsibility.  It is intended for those who lead a team of internal quality assurance staff.

Course content

The Certificate requires 17 credits from 3 mandatory units.

  • Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
  • Internally assure the quality of assessment
  • Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility

You will require a Face-to-Face induction then remote support means you will experience a truly flexible delivery model. Alongside the learning materials, you’ll have the support of a knowledgeable assessor/tutor who’ll give you advice and guidance on the course content as well as providing robust feedback on the work you complete. We offer the option to study this course using a blended learning approach, this includes some distance learning, which will enable you to learn when and where you want. You can study from home or at work; it is completely up to you. All your materials will be posted or emailed to you online, whichever you choose. You’ll also receive our tutor support by email, so help is only a click away.

This qualification is internally assessed. Methods appropriate to the assessment of knowledge, understanding and skills include holistic assessment, observation, examination of work products, questions, professional discussions, expert witness testimony and recognition of prior learning.

For this qualification you will be assessed using a range of methods; all units must be assessed using methods appropriate to your own internal quality assurance (IQA) performance. These must include:

  • observation of performance
  • examining products of work
  • questioning.

Direct evidence of this kind may be supplemented, where necessary, by professional discussion, reflective accounts or witness testimony (simulations are not allowed).
There must be sufficient valid evidence for all the assessment criteria. We use a Holistic assessment approach and encourage one piece of evidence to be used to meet the requirements of more than one assessment criterion.
Evidence must come from your own performance in the work environment. There must be evidence of you monitoring a minimum of two assessors, each with a minimum of two candidates of their own, through components of a qualification.

You will need pen and paper plus email / Internet access.

This qualification does qualify you to work as an internal verifier or internal quality assurer [IQA} it also supports your professional development, either in your current or future job roles.
This qualification provides progression to the role of Lead Quality assure or progression to a qualifications at level 5.  It also allows you to access other level 4 qualifications for External Quality Assurance and those relevant to teaching, training and education.
