Assistant Practitioners work as part of the wider health and social care team and have direct contact with patients, service users or clients providing high quality and compassionate care. The course is designed to attract and develop band 1 and 2 workers into band 3 and 4 roles. It develops the skills and learning required by a wide range of assistant practitioners to provide patient care across primary and secondary care settings in nursing and allied health professions.
The course, which is an award of Sheffield Hallam University, has two routes. For those already employed in assistant or support worker roles in health, social or community care the course allows you to complete both the Higher Apprenticeship in Health (Assistant Practitioner) and the Foundation Degree. The course provides you with your continuing personal and professional development and depending on your employer, would allow you to undertake a Band 4 Associate /Assistant role. If you are not in employment, you can apply to this course on a full time basis if you meet the entry requirements.
