This course will start on Monday 23 September 2024. It will run on Monday evenings 5pm - 9pm for 33 weeks (term-time only). It will end on Monday 28 April 2025.

Course overview

Want an exciting career in Hairdressing? The course covers many aspects of hairdressing including cutting, colour correction and dressing long hair.

Course content

This course is for those who have completed their Level 2 Hairdressing Diploma and wish to develop their hairdressing career. The course covers many aspects of advanced Hairdressing including cutting, colour correction, dressing long hair and advanced perming.

You will take part in various competitions in and out of the college which will then open up more job opportunities upon completion.

Online assessments are required to be completed for each unit throughout the course
You will have practical assessments to complete for each unit
You will require paying clients to complete practical assessments, which must be sourced by yourself. If necessary model blocks may be used to assess the perming unit

You will be required to purchase a kit and uniform before starting the course. The kit will cost approximately £252.30 and the uniform will cost approximately £37. Both can be purchased from the department supplier. The department staff will provide you with details of how you can order if you choose to come and enrol.

You will also need writing stationery.

You can progress onto employment e.g. working in a salon, cruise ships or spa hotels.

How much does the course cost?

This course costs £3000. If you are aged between 19-23 and have not achieved a Level 3 qualification, funding may be available for you. Otherwise, you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to pay for this course. Please see the drop down menus below for further education regarding funding.

We have a state-of-the-art fitness village, Honeywell Sports Village where students can make use of our fitness suite, spinning studio and classes for competitive rates.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may not have to pay for this course if:

You do not already have a level 3 qualification OR
You already have a level 3 qualification or higher but earn below the earnings threshold set by your local authority, which includes benefits (see below)
You already have a level 3 qualification or higher but are unemployed and in receipt of a means-tested benefit, below the earnings threshold set by your local authority (see below).

This course is funded by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and/or West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). You must be living in the South or West Yorkshire regions to qualify for funding.

Earnings Threshold

If you live in the qualifying West Yorkshire region and earn below £25,000 a year then you may not have to pay for this course.
If you live in the qualifying South Yorkshire region and earn below £30,476 a year then you may not have to pay for this course.
