There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, and you are not expected to have any prior knowledge or experience, however, an interest in the subject area is advisable.

You will achieve

You will achieve a Level 2 IMI Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Routine Maintenance Activities.

Course overview

This qualification is for those who have an interest in gaining the knowledge to work safely when carrying out routine maintenance activities on electric and/or hybrid vehicles. You will gain the knowledge and skills required to work safely around a vehicle that may have had damage to its high energy/electrical system.

This qualification offers an introduction into this specialised industry sector and will complement any current industry qualifications and experience. It will enable you to continue to work safely within your role.

Course content

The following subjects will be covered on this qualification:

  • Electric/hybrid system components and operation
  • Hazards surrounding electric/hybrid vehicles
  • How to reduce the risks to yourself and others when working on electric/hybrid vehicles
  • Safely preparing the vehicle when carrying out routine maintenance (Not high voltage components or systems)

This course will teach you to work safely on an electric/hybrid vehicle (This does not include high voltage components or systems).

This qualification will be assessed through the IMI criteria, requiring an observation of competence and an online test.

You will need:

  • Overalls and steel toe cap safety footwear
  • Pens/pencils
  • A scientific calculator
  • A notebook

This qualification will help to support your progression onto qualifications which further develop your knowledge and skills within a technical role, carrying out repair and replacement of high voltage components on electric or hybrid vehicles.

This course costs £385. Full fee payable.
