This course will start on Monday 13th January 2025. You will be required to attend two evenings (Monday and Tuesday) per week. Classes will start at 6pm and finish at 9pm.
No formal qualifications are required. A keen interest in DIY and construction and a willingness to learn new skills would be advantageous. Maths will be developed carrying out measurements and working out the volume of materials needed. Health and Safety is embedded in to every activity.
City & Guilds 6219 Certificate in Multi Trade L1.
In this course, you will learn essential skills for the construction industry and home maintenance. Key areas include plastering, brickwork, joinery, and basic plumbing. You will also study Health and Safety. Over six weeks, you will rotate through each trade, developing practical skills taught by industry specialists. By the end, you will be able to perform basic brickwork, plastering, and joinery repairs, and select the correct tools and materials for various domestic repairs.

You can continue on to a Level 2 qualification in Brickwork, Plastering or Joinery trade, progress into employment as a caretaker/handyperson or apply to be an adult apprentice.

Part-time courses are only available for learners who are 19 years old and above. You may not have to pay for this course if you are employed but earn below £23,400 a year, or if you are unemployed and receive Job Seekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit. You will need to provide evidence of your eligibility which will be checked at enrolment.
This course is funded by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and/or West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). You must be living in the South or West Yorkshire regions to qualify for funding.
