Children, Young People and Families Practitioner (Community Pathway) Level 4 Apprenticeship

Start Date / Duration

Start dates are January, April and September and the course will run for 24 months.

Entry requirements

  • You should be at least 18 years old.
  • GCSEs (9-4) in Maths and English (or equivalent), or currently working towards achieving these qualifications at the required level.
  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a related subject
  • Employed in a permanent community practitioner role with employer support for at least six hours of learning per week during paid work hours.
  • Good standard of spoken and written English, along with good ICT skills.

You will achieve

  • Children, Young People and Families Practitioner Level 4 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education in Children and Families, validated by The University of Hull

Course overview

This programme offers a fresh, relevant educational option for current and prospective community practitioners in children’s social care, helping them excel in their roles. The Level 4 Community pathway supports employer needs, staff retention, and career progression.

Modules include:
• Safeguarding Children and Young People
• Children and Young People’s Development
• Professional Roles and Responsibilities
• Evidence-Informed Practice
• Social and Emotional Resilience
• Community and Multi-Agency Working.

You will be assessed through practical observations in the workplace and a portfolio of coursework.

Upon completion of the course, you will undertake an End-Point Assessment. This includes:

  • An Observation of practice
  • A professional discussion informed by your portfolio, which includes case studies, reflective logs, feedback, and documented interventions.

You will require access to a computer and the internet.
