This course commences in September and will be completed in one year.

Our chef and front-of-house lecturers will teach you practical food prep and cooking skills. You’ll learn in our modern kitchens and restaurant, The Open Kitchen. Level 2 students even run afternoon service for real diners! You’ll master cooking meat, fish, poultry, veggies, soups, stocks, and sauces, and then move on to baking and event cooking. The course covers food safety, healthy eating, and catering for special diets. Get ready for a fun and practical culinary experience!

We run a very professional department and your uniform and equipment is integral to that professionalism.
You will be given a list of the equipment and uniform you will be expected to provide, but you may be able to purchase this through applying to the College’s Learner Support Fund. We use a local supplier who gives a good discount to all our students.
Upon completion, you could progress onto further study such as our Level 3 Professional Cookery course.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.
If you are aged 16 – 19 and don’t hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which can be added to your study programme.
If you’re aged 19 or above and don’t hold a a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
