Careers Team FAQs

The Careers and Enterprise Hub is the home for the Careers Team at Barnsley College. Located next to the main visitor reception in the Old Mill Lane campus, the team there can support you with impartial careers advice and guidance. This includes current students, alumni and potential students. We can help with 1:1 careers information, advice and guidance appointments, apprenticeship information, CV and employability support, general progression, HE options, interview prep, UCAS and Student Finance.

We can help with finding the right job for you. We can give you resources that include different job websites for certain industries, or ones that can be used for any job type. We can also help you apply for these once you have found one that you think suits you, just book an appointment with us to do this!

The College’s UCAS deadline for the current cycle is the 15th November 2024.

If you don’t have a CV at all, you can ask for our CV workbook to get started. This breaks down each section of your CV and gives you some examples of what to include, it also has a full CV example, so you can create your own in the correct format and order. If you already have a CV, you can send this to us via email at careersteam@barnsley.ac.uk and we can take a look and give you some feedback!

To find the Buzzword for the current cycle, please contact either your tutor or the Careers Team directly and this can be shared with you.

You can visit the Careers and Enterprise Hub, we are based at the Old Mill Lane campus, or you can send us an email at careersteam@barnsley.ac.uk, or call us on 01226 216 732.

We have resources with useful apprenticeship websites. Once you have found one you like and want to apply for, we can help you with the application, just book an appointment and one of our advisors will support you with this. You can also visit the Barnsley College Apprenticeship Vacancies page for current and live opportunities.

We work on UCAS applications in date order from when we receive them. We will only see your application once your tutor has approved it. Please check with your tutor to see if your application has been approved. Once it has been approved, it will be quality checked by an advisor. Please keep in mind that we receive a high volume of UCAS applications, and all feedback will be sent to you via email or Teams.
