We are excited to announce our Sports Academy has established a partnership with Advance Basketball Ltd. which will give talented basketball players opportunities at both clubs.

Advance Basketball Ltd. was founded by Ariel Parrucci, former Sheffield Sharks Assistant Manager, who joined the College in 2022 to lead our basketball programme.

This collaboration will provide players from Advance Basketball Ltd. with an extended pathway for their basketball career. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to enhance their education by enrolling in Further and Higher Education courses at Barnsley College and Barnsley College University Centre.

Our Basketball Academy offers talented students aged 16-18 the exciting opportunity to mix the court and the classroom with a structured training schedule alongside academic support. Weekly fixtures will take place in the Association of Colleges (AoC) Sport Yorkshire and Humber Basketball League and National Cup. In addition, there will be regular fixtures against other academies to showcase student athlete progress.

Ariel Parrucci, Advance Basketball Ltd. and Basketball Head Coach at the College, said: “Over ten players from our club programme will benefit from this partnership by studying diverse courses at the College next year, including the brand new Level 3 Sports Coaching and Development: Basketball Development pathway, while also continuing to play basketball at the highest level. We are excited to join hands with Barnsley College and continue to grow basketball and education pathways in Barnsley and the surrounding region.”

You don’t have to be studying sport to be a part of our Sports Academy – all students are welcome. Our Sports Performance Academies include Football (male and female), Golf Academy, Rugby Union, Refereeing, Basketball, Netball, Cricket, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Health and Fitness, Inclusive Academy, Futsal, Individual Athlete Academy and Esports.
