Our students joined the social action group ‘Serve the City‘ in Paris to tackle litter as part of ‘Excellence Opportunity’.
The initiative, organised by the Students’ Union, invited students to apply for a fully funded three-night trip, aimed at recognising students who go above and beyond.
“This initiative was brought in to celebrate the exceptional students at College and their amazing achievements by providing the winners with a once-in-a-lifetime trip they can experience together.”
The 10 students selected embarked on a bespoke trip that involved engaging in social action work and fully immersing themselves into the Parisian culture.
A full day was dedicated to participating in Serve the City’s ‘Sweep the City’ volunteer initiative, aimed at cleaning up Paris and positively impacting the environment by tidying up busy areas of the city.
Students were captivated by the eye-opening Parisian experience, witnessing the mesmerising sparkle of the Eiffel Tower and climbing to the top of the Montparnasse Tower for an unforgettable experience of a unique view of Paris and its monuments.
No visit to Paris would truly be complete without a celebratory trip to Disneyland Paris, honouring the achievements and commitment of the students, whether volunteering, fundraising, Students’ Union event involvement or activities outside of the College.
Before heading home, undeterred by the 669 steps, the students climbed the Eiffel Tower for more panoramic views before taking in more scenery and cultural insights on a River Cruise along the River Seine.
When asked, the students described the trip as ‘eye-opening’, ‘cultural,’ ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ and ‘an experience that I’ll remember forever.’
Sasha Foyster, Learner Voice Adviser for Student Services who organised the Excellence Opportunity, added: “This initiative was brought in to celebrate the exceptional students at College and their amazing achievements by providing the winners with a once-in-a-lifetime trip they can experience together.
“All the students should be incredibly proud of themselves; they have gone above and beyond in engaging with the Student Union, and some have still committed to being a voice for students despite unthinkable barriers.”
