Connecting to eduroam

Eduroam is a Wi-Fi network available in Colleges and Universities nationwide for both students and staff. This guide will assist you in connecting your personal devices to our Wi-Fi network, enabling you to get online.

Please note: If you change your college password, you will be required to reconnect to Eduroam using the below methods with your new college password.

iPhone

Step 1: Open the settings application and open the Wi-Fi page.
Step 2: Select the Eduroam network and sign in with your staff/ student email address and password then select “Join” in the top right corner.

Step 3: Select trust in the top right corner.

Step 4: You are now connected to the Eduroam network.

Android

Please note:

  • If you have mobile data, please go to step 1.
  • If you do not have mobile data, please go to step 6

Step 1: Download the GetEduroam application from the Google Play Store by scanning the QR of clicking the link below:

Step 2: Search Barnsley College.

Step 3: Sign in with your staff/ student email address and password then select “Log in”.

Step 4: Select save when prompted.

Step 5: You are now connected to the Eduroam network.

If you do not have mobile data.

Step 6: Open the settings application and open the Wi-Fi page.
Step 7: Select Eduroam from the list of networks, this will then open a page with a few options that may need to be changed. Please use the following options:

Identity: Staff/ Student email address.
Password: The password used to log into your college account.
CA Certificate: Do not validate/ Do not check.
EAP Method: PEAP
Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
Domain suffix (if required): barnsley.ac.uk

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 8: Select connect and you will now be connected to the Eduroam network.

Chromebook

Step 1: Open the settings application and open the Wi-Fi page.
Step 2: Select Eduroam from the list of networks, this will then open a page with a few options that may need to be changed. Please use the following options:

Identity: Staff/ Student email address.
Password: The password used to log into your college account.
CA Certificate: Do not validate/ Do not check.
EAP Method: PEAP
Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
Domain suffix (if required): barnsley.ac.uk

Step 8: Select connect and you will now be connected to the Eduroam network.

Macbook

Step 1: Open the settings application and open the Wi-Fi page.
Step 2: Select the Eduroam network and sign in with your staff/ student email address and password then select “OK” in the bottom right corner.

Step 3: You will then be prompted to verify the certificate of Eduroam, select “Continue”

 

 

 

 

Step 4: You are now connected to the Eduroam network.

 

Windows

Step 1: Select the Wi-Fi logo on the task bar and select Eduroam from the list of networks:

Step 2: Enter your college log in details and select “OK”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3: Select “Connect”

 

 

 

 

 

Step 4: You are now connected to the Eduroam network.
